Aftercare is most important, let’s face it after spending x amount of money on this treatment, the post
applied maintenance should be carried through if you expect your new eyelash extensions to last.
There are various reasons why women seek to have eyelash extensions applied, many require them for that special occasion as a one off and others wish to follow the maintenance regime. Either way semi permanent eyelash extensions come with a responsibility that should be recognized.
These individual eyelashes need proper care and attention to keep them looking good for the longest time possible.
Ensure your eyelashes last and stay beautiful by following these simple aftercare steps:
- Do not allow water to contact your lashes for up to 24 hours after the application, to ensure the glue has completely bonded with the natural eyelash.
- Do not steam face, have a steam bath, swim or wash face with hot water for 48 hours, as any of these actions may loosen the eyelash extension.
- If you use mascara (you won't need to!) use a water based one, they will generally not need mascara, but if you decide to use it, make sure you only apply it to the tips of the extensions sparingly. Try to avoid rubbing your eyes or pulling on the eyelash extension, as this will loosen them and it is possible you may loose some of the eyelashes.
- Only use water based eye-makeup remover, as any products with an oil-based content may dissolve the glue and you may loosen the eyelash extensions.
- Do not use eyelash curlers, your extensions do not need it, this action may cause the eyelash extension to break away from the natural eyelash.
- Maintain your eyelashes with a regular re-balance, this is generally every 2-3 weeks to ensure maximum fullness. Though this is an approximate time scale, it is difficult to determine as all women are different and their eyelashes have different growth cycles. Some women may need to re-visit the salon after 2 weeks, for other women it may be a month, the re-balance appointment will vary, but whenever you can physically see your eyelashes are becoming sparse, this is the time for you to call your eyelash technician.
- Use one of our eyelash coating sealers every day combing through the eyelashes to gently soften and condition them, prolong longevity and maintain flexibility.
There are several reasons for removing the eyelash extensions:
- Incorrect application or placement of an individual eyelash.
- Due to discomfort or allergic reaction.
- Due to the eyelash extensions tilting in the wrong direction.
- Only interested in having eyelash extensions for a special occasion or time period.
