What are eyelash extensions?

How are the eyelash extensions applied?

A single natural eyelash is isolated and a synthetic lash is applied to the top of your own natural eyelash approximately 1mm from the eyelid so neither the adhesive or the lash has contact with the skin. 

How long does the application take?

The procedure will take approximately 1 & 1/2 hours for a full set. It is a meticulous procedure that requires patience and concentration so therefore it should not be rushed so that clients can leave with a perfect set of Elegant Lashes.

How long do the eyelash extensions last?

Generally eyelash  extensions can last up to 3-4 weeks from the time of application.  The lifetime of your eyelashes depends on your hair growth cycle and lifestyle.  A regular maintenance programme every 2-3 weeks can extend the life to 8-12 weeks.

How are the lower lashes held down?

At Elegant Lashes it is important that our clients are comfortable during the treatment therefore, we use soft eye pads specifically designed for the treatment.

Can I wear mascara?

If you choose to wear mascara, we recommend using Lash Perfect Mascaras which are specifically formulated for use with Lash Perfect extensions.  These mascaras are water washable, gentle and safe for eyelash extensions mascara.  Generally water-proof mascara, mascara remover and some cleansers can disturb and weaken the adhesive bond of the eyelash extension.

Are the lashes good for holidays?

Yes, perfect!  You can swim and shower with no problem.  Eyelashes will look good on the beach and around the pool.  Your eyes will always look glamorous and give the appearance of mascara.

Can I have them if I wear contact lenses?

Yes, there is no problem for customers who wear contact lenses, however we recommend you remove them before having the extensions applied.

Are eyelash extensions suitable for everyone?  

Anyone of any age can have eyelash extensions applied as long as there is a natural lash to glue the extension onto. They are also suitable for people who wear contact lenses and glasses. 

Can I Suffer an Allergic Reaction? 

If you have experienced sensitivity around the eye area after using skin care or makeup products or generally have sensitive eyes then eyelash extensions may not suit you.  If you use prescribed medicated eye drops or ointment this may coat the lashes and cause them to clump. Eyelash extensions cannot be applied to very curly eyelashes as it is difficult to apply the extensions.   

Can the eyelash extensions be removed?

Yes, at any time for any reason they can be removed however there will be a removal charge. Refer to prices. The extension lashes are easily removed by using an adhesive remover and is safe.  

The golden rule to the preservation and longevity of semi permanent eyelash extensions is the less you touch them, the longer they will last. 

However, it is important to keep the eye area clean at all times...and if in doubt consult your eyelash extension therapist as soon as possible.
